I recently used this organizer in a zippered tote that I used as a carry-on. I like the quantity of pockets and the variety of shapes and sizes. It was easy to access everything stored inside and I could pull the insert out easily as well.
It did feel like the insert itself, without everything loaded inside, added more weight to my tote bag than I was expecting, but I was glad that I could find everything inside my bag easily, instead of the items loosely floating around in individual containers.

This works great! Everything I carry with me is now organized and easy to grab. I used to lose half of my little things in my backpack, even my wallet.
Absolutely perfect for my needs! It fits very neatly into a backpack and allows one -handed operation for “grabbing the computer” without having to dig for the cord and having the computer case swallow the rest of the backpack-I’m thrilled
I’ve now tried a good several backpack organizers, and this one is my favorite. Totally transforms my backpack experience. Because unlike every other product I’ve seen, the GillyGro allows you to stack objects VERTICALLY and thus actually maximize the space. Other backpack organizers separate your items but still have everything resting on the bottom of the bag, or otherwise taking up part of the bag’s footprint. The GillyGro let me not just organize but absolute cram my backpack full, while keeping items easy to access. I didn’t have to rummage at all.
Other reviewers have noted they find it hard to access the pockets. I have no problem with that since I simply use the GillyGro “inside out” (red on the outside, gray on the inside). That puts the smaller, fiddlier pockets on the outside where I can reach them all, and the bigger ones on the inside where I can just blindly stash and grab. I don’t know why they don’t just make that the “right” way to use it :)
I love the variety of pocket sizes and types, which let me store everything from power banks to cord adapters to a paperback book to pens to a small sketchbook and more. The pen pocket is even lined with plastic in case of leaks! I was able to clip loose items in the center space to the hand straps so I could move them out of the way and then put them back easily.
The ONLY drawback is that the GillyGro is slightly weightier than other nylon organizers. But to me, it makes up for it by compressing your stuff into a small, tight form that makes for a more comfortable carry if your backpack is decent at weight distribution. Its use of vertical space basically “unlocked” the use of my tall, narrow hiking backpack as an airplane carry-on bag. So while it may have added a few ounces, it still put me way ahead on ergonomics.
TL;DR: I love this organizer

Perfect Travel Companion!
Took the FlexPack Urban on my flight to Chicago and it made a huge difference. My backpack went in the overhead bin, and this slim organizer stayed under the seat with all my essentials — laptop, chargers, two pairs of glasses, and snacks. Everything was within reach and I had more legroom. Total game-changer for air travel!
